Oud bruin cherry is created by adding whole, sour cherries to beer that has already aged on oak barrels for at least one year.
The ripe fruits are picked in the middle of the summer in orchards in Veurne by local beauties.
The baskets, bulging with blushing fruits, cross the entire province of west Flanders to land in Anzegem, where they are added to the beer. The wild yeasts turn the sugars from the sour cherries into complex aromas like red wine, fresh cherry and almond. The beer and the cherries lift each other to a higher level.
